Lenovo Slim Pro 9i (2023)- Overview

Lenovo recently announced an update to their popular premium ultrabook, the Slim Pro 9i. I was excited to hear about the 2023 model since I’ve been a fan of the original. I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet, but wanted to share my early thoughts based on the specs and reviews so far.

A Refined Look with the Same Slim Design

One thing that stands out about the 2023 Slim Pro 9i is the refined design. It keeps the same slim and lightweight aluminum chassis as the previous model, which is impressive considering the large 14.5-inch screen. I’m glad Lenovo didn’t compromise on portability. The new Storm Grey color option looks sharp too!

Based on pictures, the build quality looks top-notch, thanks to the aluminum and magnesium alloy construction. You still get two Thunderbolt 4 ports for power users with the Lenovo SD card reader.

MiniLED Display Could Be a Game Changer

The killer new feature on the Slim Pro 9i is likely the MiniLED display option. The 14.5-inch 3K resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio are great, but MiniLED takes it to another level with true blacks, vibrant image, and super high contrast. Makes me want to watch movies on this thing!

Having used a MiniLED screen on a laptop before, I can say this could be a game changer for the Slim Pro 9i. The 165Hz refresh rate should make everything look buttery smooth too. 1200 nits of brightness is plenty for most environments.

Expect Top-Notch Performance

This model comes with the latest 13th gen Intel Core i7-13705H Processor (3.70GHz, up to 5.00GHz with Turbo Boost, 14 Cores, 20 Threads, 24 MB Cache). Smart move since these new CPUs seriously boost performance compared to previous generations. I’m happy to see up to 32GB RAM and 1TB storage options too.

It is equipped with NVIDIA® GeForce® RTXTM 4050 Laptop GPU 6 GB( GDDR6 VRAM; Up to 2055 MHz Boost Clock, Up to 100W TGP) graphics, which can handle heavy or light gaming or graphics work. Lenovo says their Intelligent Cooling will adjust fan speed based on workload to balance performance and heat.

Battery life is rated at 10 hours with a Full HD+ display or slightly less with the MiniLED screen. Either way, looks like all-day battery life is achievable thanks to the latest Intel efficiencies.

Initial Verdict – A Compelling Ultrabook

Even though I haven’t gotten my hands on the 2023 Slim Pro 9i yet, specs-wise it checks all the boxes. The refined premium design, stunning MiniLED display option, powerful new Intel processors, and great battery life make this a highly compelling ultrabook. I can’t wait to try one out myself and see how it handles!
